| WHY DO CHRISTIANS NEED HEALING? Just like everyone else, Christians
are burdened in their spirits by the inherited and experienced hurts
in life. Jesus came to
save us from our sins, and to make clear our everlasting life with
the Father. Forgiveness of sins, and healing of hurts of the spirit, are
two very different things. we
can be totally forgiven and still carry hurts. Some of these hurts are very obvious and known. Other hurts may be hidden and quite unknown.
both the known and unknown hurts can have serious effects in
our lives, our choices and our habits. We believe that how we respond to any
given situation is governed mainly by hurts or blessings of our lives. Even as Christians, we can be robbed of
our choices that God has freely given to us through Jesus Christ our
Lord. HOW DO WE MINISTER TO WOUNDED
CHRISTIANS? At VPC, we minister to people
through a combination of listening, sharing and praying. God alone has the power to heal the memories
and hurts that afflict people.
he desires to minister to those who come to Him in faith, believing
that He can and will heal them.
The counsellors themselves are only a means by which God speaks
into people’s lives. Many of our clients come to us
initially in a crises situation.
Once we have worked through the immediate issues we invite
them to participate in a life review in which we systematically cover
all the stages of their lives.
Through prayer, the Lord identifies deeply rooted issues.
As these areas are healed we see lives begin to change. This is a process the length of which
depends on the brokenness and spiritual maturity of the client. One thing is always certain. When the Lord heals, a person will never
be the same he/she was before the healing took place. “... To proclaim the acceptable
year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort
all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty
for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for
the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:2-3 |
