If you are a pastor, you probably experience a number of frustrations - from your workload, to board meetings, to counselling, to finances and time just disappears with so much still to be done.  Such was my experience when I was Rector at Church of Our Lord.  The counselling load robbed much of my time, the people of my congregation felt short-changed, and I was “on overload”.

Through a series of happenings in my life during the spring and early summer of 1992, God spoke very clearly to my wife, Claudia, and me, that I should resign as Rector and begin prayer counselling full time.  The decision to form Victoria Prayer Counselling was a challenge personally, spiritually and financially, but I knew above all else that I could trust God!

At VPC we feel we can come alongside pastors and congregations in a very personal, non-threatening and safe environment.  We believe that the discipleship and prayer ministry that God has placed in our hands brings Christians to a newer and deeper understanding of God’s love for them as individuals, couples and families.  Further, we believe that God is able to heal the hurts that tear away at people’s faith.

Many pastors are simply too busy these days with a myriad of other responsibilities to spend the required amount of time in one-on-one counselling and prayer with hurting members of their congregation.  And not all ministers of the Gospel are called to be in-depth counsellors!  If this is where you find yourself or your ministry - may we at VPC be of help?  With our mandate of Isaiah 61:1, we truly believe that God is calling us to partner with local churches in the area of prayer ministry to their members.

Yours in Christ,

Rt. Rev. Charles Dorrington

Isaiah 61:1 “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good tidings to the afflicted.  He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”
